Is torture worth it?

The Unreligious Right has 2 posts on this, Pro’s and Cons.

Top Ten Good Arguments Against Torture.

Top Ten Bad Arguments Against Torture.

I do not consider anything short of water-boarding to be torture, and I would expect that to be reserved for the absolute worst of the enemy combatants. I do in theory support torture, but if any argument against it carries weight, it would be the same argument against ANY Government power.

“Any POWER can and will be abused, and who gets to decide when said POWER is allowable?”

But that’s just the Libertarian in me talking…..

Seven things to never say to a veteran.

SEVEN THINGS NEVER TO SAY TO A VETERAN

1. “Thank you for your service, but I don’t think we should have been there in the first place.”

2. “Is it worth it?”

3. “Are you a lesbian?”

4. “You’re too rigid to deal with sudden changes.”

5. “Do you have post-traumatic stress disorder?”

6. “What’s the worst thing that happened to you over there?”

7. “Have you ever killed anyone?”

Just say, “I’m glad you’re home. Welcome back.”

Additions to the blogroll

Added a couple to the Blogroll:

A Conservative Shemale
The Unreligious Right

Two wonderful examples of bloggers that don’t fit into the classic “Rightwing Nutjob” mold, but both are covering great topics.

Jenn offers a completely different angle then a lot of “Conservatives” may ever consider, not to mention covering some interesting stories that may not get the play in the echochamber of the blogosphere.

David reminds me of Dean Esmay for his rather logical and reasoned approach.

As long as there is a stone in my hand…

This video may be a tad politically charged, but I can’t really blame “celebrity” ignorance, they live in a world of un-reality and yes men.
So ignore the political tones of the video, and listen to the words, this is the cry of the Libertarian, Constitutionalists, and freedom lovers.

Stone in my Hand – Everlast

Some people may ask “What hope does a man with a stone have against a tank?”
Some would answer “What hope do you have defeating a people that will throw rocks at tanks?”

All I am saying, we have to fight, it may be too late for Obamacare, but FFS we gotta do something.

Blogroll updates, buhbye LGF…

Ok, lets dust this off and look around.
Cleaned up my blogroll a bit, deleted some inactive links and such but I do want to point out one major deletion.

Little Green Footballs….
Seriously WTF happened to Charles, I mean I never was 100% in lockstep with him, but wow!
I follow The Other Mccain and he had been pointed out by Charles as being a racist for some reason.
I personally ignore almost any charges of racism, ESPECIALLY if it is a white on white thing, I mean can you get anymore silly?
But it persisted, and I watched them fight back and forth a little and began wondering and even researching a little on LGF’s site to see what Charles was supporting these days.
Low and behold he was a Climate Change evangelist all the while bashing anyone with Christian values as some sort of Creationist whacko. Oh and he was banning long time conservative bloggers left and right, throwing them under the bus faster then the Obama campaign did!

Talk about warning bells…..
Then the other shoe dropped.

Why I Parted Ways With The Right

And this sums up most of my response to it….

Unreligious Right: Laughing at LGF

So, so long LGF and Charles, hope you come around one day, it was nice at one time to have a place updated so regularly that SEEMED to have more critical logic then agenda….

Free World of Warcraft Pet!

WECŪ Brown vs Faber 2 Commentary

Stayed up till 2am to watch this Sunday night due to the DVR cutting off after round one of the main event…. It ALWAYS does that, don’t ask me why I can’t remember to record the next show just to be safe.

Let’s break it down.

Josh Grispi Vs. Jens Pulver:

Jens is my boy,  I love that guy for so many reasons, but as he mentioned in an interview before his second match with Urijah, “Little Evil wasn’t a nick name, that was ME, my anger and desire to hurt something, but that’s gone now, I have not felt Little Evil for a couple of years….”
For better or worse, he has lost the fire he had to fight, he needs to find a new drive or it’s time to concentrate on coaching, maybe announcing, SOMETHING, please don’t be the grisly vet they toss to all the prospects to get some name recognition.

And for his part, Josh was great, I really feel for him though, he had just won, and you could see he felt TERRIBLE about it, that’s gotta suck! LOL

Donald Cerrone Vs. James Krause

COwwwwwwBOI!! Seriously, as a TapOut show watcher I have known about Cerrone for a while, he is a badass, and I love seeing someone of his determination fighting. I think he still needs to work on polish, but damn watching him stalk Krause like some sort of caged lion was awesome, I can’t WAIT to see him fight Varner again!

Jose Aldo Vs. Cub Swanson

Ok, I will admit, I had no idea who Jose Aldo was……. but that’s kinda the point of tossing him at someone like Cub. Holy….Sheet…. This fight, while OMG short, is a perfect example of why I love the light weight classes, “Don’t Blink” for real! Yeah I know Aldo VS Brown is prolly coming, but damn I wanna see Aldo vs Faber, Mutant Speed Factors For the WIN!

Mike Campbell Vs. Anthony Pettis

Mike Campbell is another of my TapOut show guys, he is going to be great, but he is really green, I mean diving into a guys triangle 3 or so times in a row, in under 2 minutes, you are gonna get caught…. Good fight Pettis though, gotta love any finish, and I love a good triangle!

Scott Jorgensen Vs. Antonio Banuelos

Antonio “The Iceman’s Man Servant” Banuelos, another Tapout guy, he has had some mixed time in the WEC, but he always gives it 150%, glad he got a win, even if they fight did drag on…

I am not one of those guys that keeps my own scoring, if you let it go to decision you deserve what you get as far as I care, fight still beat 99.9% of TV :D

Mike Brown Vs. Urijah Faber

Appetizers are over with, time for the reason we all tuned in…..

Urijah Faber, the mutantly quick and creative, often thought “King of the 145s” is back for his belt.

Mike Brown, the effin wrecking machine, ready to keep the belt and shut up any and all “Fluke” or “Lucky” talk.

Both of these absolute badasses had just decimated their last opponent in the first round, they both have something to prove, and they both are in their prime, this promised all the fireworks you could ever expect from the WEC.

And boy did it deliver!

I won’t bother speaking too much about the exact events, watch it, read about it from play by play guys, that’s not my gig.

I will say this, a few people have commented something like “If Urijah didn’t get hurt it woulda been different!” Yeah maybe, but he DID get hurt, and he DID go the distance, and that is awesome no matter how you slice it! As Mike Brown put it, him and Urijah are the top two at 145, at least in North America which is all that really matters here, and they will meet again, Urijah a little healthier, Brown a little more prepared for that mutant speed…….

I.Simply.Can’t.WAIT!

UFC orders a Slice of Kimbo!

Hell hath frozen over…. Kimbo “MuthaF***in” Slice will be wearing UFC gear and be staring in the latest “The Ultimate Fighter” season.

This season has already started, so it is no joke or pipe dream, it is happening as I type this! (Assuming he hasn’t already stormed out of the house….)

All I can say is…..

Dana White is a GENIUS!

Kimbo = Celebrity, and he will tap into the great unwashed masses of casual MMA fans that caught an Elite XC event on CBS for free once as they were surfing for yet another CSI rerun….

Worst case scenario?

Kimbo loses early, still causes a TON of new people to at least watch an episode or two of TUF, most likely gets a fight on the finale against someone like Heath Herring or Shane Carwin and gets smashed.

Dana and Spike get more ratings for both shows, and Dana gets to show the world, “Kimbo ain’t SHIT” as he has been quoted.

Best case scenario?

Kimbo surprises everyone, wins a few fights, competes hard, even if losing in the finale shows the kinda heart and excitement that will keep him on contract and the UFC gets a brand new PPV draw… a big BIG draw.

Dana f***in White is a MuthaF***in Genius!

Now are the UFC belts locked?

At one time I thought the UFC belts were set, stuck in place for a while.

BJ Penn at 155

GSP at 170

Anderson Silva at 185

Rampage Jackson at 205

Since then, GSP lost and regained the belt, Brock Lesnar has imho locked up the HeavyWeight belt and the LightHW belt is now on it’s third owner since leaving Rampage’s waist…

I do beleive, Lyota Machida is the real deal, he has something “new”, something that is difficult to impossible to train against, and if you can’t train for your opponent….. well that’s what will seperate the athletes from the true fighters….

A quote:

“Welcome to the Lyota ERA!” Joe Rogan

Well said Joe, well said…. I look forward to watching him frustrate and demolish the top teir 205′ers.

^_^

Chicago Tea Party?!?

Holy Smokes, it is so heartening to hear someone in the media, in Chicago, in the finacial industry, lay down the smack like this… you MUST watch it to believe it!
