Monday Gaming update, or “Damn it’s good to be a Gangsta!”
Yeah I know it is Tuesday, yesterday was a little hectic.
Last week I went to Fry’s in search of a new game. No I am not the kind of gamer that goes to the store and buys the flashy box, but I have several games that have been out a while I would not mind playing, so I guess I was really looking for a bargain.
My plan was to buy another copy of Sims2 Nightlife so I could play that while my wife was awake.
(Cause she is playing her copy constantly)
Found it for 19.99, actually picked it up and looked around some more. Then I found the DVD edition of GTA San Andreas, 19.99!
Now to completely honest, I was not really happy with the switch of genre from Gangster to Gangsta, but I really love the GTA games so I was just waiting on a good price, SOLD!
Well, Rockstar, for all of their mishandling of the “Hot Coffee” situation, pulled off one hell of a game.
Much like Vice City was to GTA3, San Andreas is just that much better, and considering they chose the very early 90’s for the time frame, they have really good music on there. C’mon when was the last time you hear Bell Biv Devoe doing Poison?
Eazy-E, DOC, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dog, Boyz to Men, oh yeah they got a country and a rock station, but seriously.
As any fan of the series would know, the standard go anywhere do anything aspect of the game is still there.
New Stuff I have found so far:
Stats:
You actually can workout to increase muscle for greater damage beating down someone.
You can work out to increase stamina to run, bicycle, and swim farther faster.
You have to eat or you start loosing energy, food also heals, but eat too much and you get fatter, time to work out!
You have actual skill stats, Car, Motorcycle, and Bicycle, I would assume as your skills go up you get better control? They only go up via usage.
You can get different Hairstyles, Tattoos and Clothing, which can all affect you Respect and Sex Appeal!
There is also car customization, sometimes you have to trick you car out to be allowed into an event.
Paint, Color, Bumpers, Exhaust, Hydraulics, and of course, Nitrous!
Oh and the writing is top notch, the mission where you help a guy kill his gay lover from jail to protect his rep had me rolling I was laughing so hard!
GTA San Andreas get 2 thumbs up and 9 outta 10 stars! (Have to take off one, cause the graphics, craptastic for today’s computer games.)
