Serious post on Cheney shooting Accident.
I know I made fun of it yesterday; and honestly there is a lot of humor to be found there for those of us with bad taste.
(A lot of it is really funny too)
I just listened to the audio of Cheney telling Brit the exact scenario and events from his own eyes.
Now I have never hunted quail myself, but I have seen several shows on it as I was looking into it at one time.
As a gun owner and shooter, what Cheney describes is a Horror Story; it is the stuff nightmares are made of for anyone that responsibly shoots a gun for “Recreation”.
My heart goes out to Mr. Whittington and his family, as it has since I first heard about the accident, but my heart also goes out to Dick Cheney, he will have this with him for the rest of his life, and I would not be that surprised if he gives up hunting quail.
Now for my “Gun Blogger” cred, I will state this “accident” is really negligent, but Cheney accepts responsibility, and I believe he had the right to assume no one would be in his firing lane. So to call it a “Negligent Discharge” would be a misnomer, and add fuel to the fire that sufferers of BDS are stroking to burn Cheney on.
As I said earlier, my heart and my prayers to both the shot and the shooter.]]>
